Yan Chen
Bagua Zhang Master

Martial Arts

Sifu Yan Chen teaches multiple styles of Chinese martial arts including Bagua Zhang, Hsing I and wushu.

Sifu Chen specializes in Ba Shing Ba Zu style of Bagua Zhang, which means "Eight Animal Eight Form." This is the original style of Bagua Zhang created by Dong Hai Chuan, the originator of Bagua Zhang. Dong Hai Chuan passed his knowledge to San Jun Dong, who passed it on to Gei Jun San, who in turn taught it to Sifu Chen, making her the 4th Generation Inheritor of Bagua Zhang.

Bagua Zhang

Bagua Zhang is one of the three orthodox "internal" styles of Chinese martial arts, the other two being Tai Chi Chuan and Hsing I Chuan. Bagua means "Eight Diagrams," which refers to the three-lined symbols used to represent all natural phenomena in the I Ching, the ancient Chinese Book of Changes. Zhang means "palm" or "fist," which refers to the fighting nature of Bagua Zhang. As a martial art, Bagua Zhang is based on the theory of continuous change and emphasizes the use of open hand techniques and skill rather than brute force.
